Israel Strikes Iran
On the morning of Friday the 19th, Israel launched a retaliatory strike on Iranian Military targets within Iran and Iraq. Israel targeted a large Iranian Army base in the city of Isfahan with radar technologies. Further strikes took place on military targets around Tabriz.
By disabling Iran’s radar capabilities, it limits Iran’s ability to defend itself from the missiles. Israel conducted a very limited retaliatory strike. This displays to Iran that Israel knows how to harm Iran, and where Iran is at its weakest.
As a result, this lets the situation diffuse by giving the Iranians an opportunity to refuse the existence of the strike and be in mutual agreement to not escalate the escalation.
Israel does not confirm or deny if it was behind the strike. Iran refuses that it took place. Consequently, this should slow down the pace of the conflict and ensure Israel and Iran do not directly fight each other soon.

Prayer Time in Schools
On Tuesday the 16th of April, a High Court Judge ruled that schools in England had the right to choose whether they wanted to have prayer time for students.
This ruling comes after a Muslim student at Michaela Community School in Wembley, took the school’s decision to ban prayer time to court. Half of Michaela’s school student population is Muslim, with approximately 700 pupils in total.
The Headmistress Katie Birbalsingh is often described as “Britain’s strictest Headteacher”. Despite this, Michaela school achieves very high public school results with a third of pupils receiving Grade 9’s (A*) in their GCSEs.
The school took steps to ensure all students were treated equally. For example, all food is vegetarian to ensure that all people, no matter their dietary requirements, can eat there.
Pupils and parents who disagree with the school’s policies have the freedom to go to a faith school or any other school.

Cameron Visits Israel – Israel Strikes Iran
On Wednesday the 17th, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron visited Israel to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This comes after Iran attacked Israel with over 300 drones and missiles on Saturday the 13th.
After meeting with Lord Cameron, Netanyahu said “We will make our own decisions” about the next steps Israel will take. The UK and US urged Israel to be careful with any retaliatory responses. Israel only targeted military targets in their response on Friday the 19th.
Lord Cameron openly asked for restraint and stated “hopes they do so in a way that does as little to escalate this as possible”.
Western Countries are expected to impose sanctions on the Iranian Defence Industries with companies like “Iran Aviation Industries Organisation” (سازمان صنایع هوایی ایران). Expected sanctions will attempt to hinder Iran from progressing its Nuclear Weapons Programme, which Biden has been relaxed on, and reducing their weapon manufacturing ability. Despite these sanctions, it is expected to have little short term impact on the Iranian Defence Industry.

Farage and Braverman kicked out of Brussels
On the 16th, Nigel Farage and Suella Braverman were forcefully removed from the National Conservatism Conference in Brussels, Belgium.
This came after the Mayor issued a ban on the gathering citing that a right-wing gathering posed a threat to the safety of the city.
Overnight, a senior Belgian Court ruled that this was unconstitutional and violated Belgium’s freedom of gathering and freedom of speech laws.
The Prime Minister of the UK and Belgium both condemned this unlawful extension of power by the mayor. This demonstrated how European cities have turned from a place of free discussion to one of suppression.

The House of Lords has asked that the UK follows International Law, despite the UK’s own High Court ruling that Rwanda is a safe country.
Leaked documents show the UK Foreign Office has shortlisted 4 countries that are willing and open to housing asylum seekers coming to the UK. These countries are Armenia, Botswana, costa Rica and Ivory Coast.
There has been a growing movement in the UK and Switzerland to leave the European Convention on Human Rights. This is because it limits the countries’ ability to make legal decisions.
Recently, Switzerland lost a case against 2000 elderly Swiss women, arguing their Human Rights were broke. A French court ruled that Switzerland was not doing enough to help the climate and as a result was undermining peoples health.
It makes sense why Switzerland would want to leave due to an external court that is out of Switzerland’s control is making decisions on behalf of Switzerland.
Bidens Gaffe at War Memorial
On Wednesday the 17th, Joe Biden visited a war memorial in Pennsylvania. Typically, the president talks about how his Army son died in combat, drawing attention away from the grieving family. This time he suggested that cannibals ate his WW2 Uncle while he was serving in Papua New Guinea. His uncle served as a pilot with the US Air Force and got shot down over the jungle in Papua New Guinea.
