Trump at NYC trial

Weekly Politics Summary – 01/06/24: Trump’s Tumultuous Trial

Trump’s Tumultuous Trial

After several months of Trump’s trial, on Thursday the 30th of May, following a politically motivated prosecution, Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records. A Manhattan jury of 12 people convicted Trump. Trump is polling at 20% in Manhattan, with Manhattan being an overwhelmingly Democrat area. Due to Trump’s global fame, juror impartiality is practically impossible.

Everybody has an opinion on Trump, you either love him, or hate him, but everybody thinks something of him.

The sentencing date is July 11th, four days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee Wisconsin. The culmination of a $454 Million bond in March, at least half of the Jurors getting their news from Left-leaning sources, and a sentencing date set 4 days before the RNC is more than enough to raise suspicion of a politically motivated trial.

Due to the Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign failing to get any votes, the Trump trial is all they have left to get new votes.  Robert F. Kennedy Jr, the third largest contender for President at 10% polling, said “The Democratic Party’s strategy is to beat President Trump in the courtroom rather than the ballot box”

Trump is ahead in the polls with 51% and Biden is behind at 46%. Trump’s conviction does not stop him from running for President. The U.S. Constitution states that to be President, that you must be a natural-born United States Citizen, be at least 35 years old, and have been a resident in the United States for 14 years. Trump’s conviction has already boosted him in the polls and given him a funding boost.

Trump moving forward

Trump’s campaign does not have as much money as Biden, but in 24 hours following Trump’s conviction, Trump raised $52.8 Million!
A testament to Trump’s growing popularity in Democrat states, he held a rally in the Bronx with 25,000 attendees. A Republican rally hasn’t been held in the Bronx for over 30 years.

It is highly likely that Trump will be elected President in November, but the way in which the U.S. Justice system has been manipulated to imprison political opposition is concerning. It signifies that if you are not on the “right team” you begin to lose your freedoms.

UK Election – National Service

Rishi Sunak revealed that if the Conservatives win the election on July 4th, they would bring back National Military Service and community service. 18-year-olds would chose between a year of full-time military service or 25 days of Community Service.
Issues with such a plan are that 25 days of community service seems much easier than a year of military service.  Furthermore, only a third of young people are willing to serve their country, and many do not want to die for the current ruling class.

Despite this, the intended purpose of National Service would be to boost the UK’s faltering armed forces and improve nationalism amongst young people.

ANC loses Majority in South Africa

The African National Congress, the party of Nelson Mandela, lost its 30-year majority. The A.N.C. remains the largest South African party. It must now form a coalition to have any legislative power. 159 seats were won by the A.N.C. with them likely forming a coalition with the Democrat Alliance.

The D.A. is a center-right party, while the A.N.C. is a left wing. Other notable parties in South Africa are the uMkhonto weSizwe, otherwise known as M.K., a left-wing populist party, and the Economic Freedom Fighters, a Communist and Black Nationalist party.

Democrat Alliance won Western Cape, where Cape Town is located, and M.K. won Kwazulu-Natal, a primarily Zulu province, where the party is based and their main voting demographic, Zulus live.
